Grindsploitation was a grindhouse-style “video nasty” anthology from Body Bag Films, paying homage to the lurid exploitation cinema of the 1970s and 80s. Nathan Head starred in the segment Deathrealm, one of many shorts stitched together into this raw, outrageous collection. Released by cult distributor Troma Entertainment, famed for The Toxic Avenger, the film fully embraced underground, transgressive traditions. Its release history was notable: in July 2016 it had a limited VHS run via Sub Rosa Studios (SRSCinema LLC), coinciding with the final month VCR machines were manufactured, making it among the last films ever issued on VHS during active production. Later that year it launched digitally through Troma for Halloween 2016, before being re-released on April 10, 2018 in a trilogy Blu-ray box set.
